Width
Greater than 12’ (on 2 and 3 lane roads) requires 1 escort (Front)
Greater than 14’ (on 2 and 3 lane roads) requires 2 escorts (Front and Rear)
Greater than 14’ (on 4 or more lane roads) requires 1 escort (Rear)
Greater than 16’ (on 4 or more lane roads) requires 2 escorts (Front and Rear)
Vehicles greater than 8’6″ wide are prohibited on some roads that may warrant pilot cars
Height
Over 15’6’’ requires 1 escort (Front with clearance pole)
Length
Greater than 110’ requires 1 escort (Rear) *note: can go up to 120’ with some steerable trailers if there is a steerable letter on file.
Vehicles exceeding 70’ long are prohibited on some roads or may warrant pilot cars.
Overhang
Greater than 25’ in front requires 1 escort (Front)
Greater than 25’ in rear requires 1 escort (Rear)
Super loads
Super loads are those exceeding:
A width of 17’ (on 2 or 3 lanes) or 19’ (on 4 or more lanes)
A height of 18’
A length of 200’
Loads 20’ wide on 2 or 3 lanes or 24’ wide on 4 or more lanes and over 18’ high may require route surveys to be submitted.
