Note:

• Two escort vehicles (1 Front, 1 Rear) are required when previous parameters separately require one escort in the front and one behind for multiple conditions.
• Vehicles and loads that are only overweight or are 12’ or less in width but cannot move freely with the flow of traffic may be subject to escort requirements.
• A separate state police escort (third escort) is required for vehicles and loads more than 15’ in width OR greater than 120’ in length OR higher than 17’6”.

Superloads

A super load is defined as a vehicle and/or load 15′ or more in width, 15′ or more in height, 120′ or more in length, and/or has a gross weight in excess of 120,000 pounds. Escort vehicle requirements can differ significantly by state in terms of mandatory driver qualifications, training, certifications, vehicle weights, obligatory signage/flags/lighting, necessary onboard equipment, and more.
